Final Swarm Beginner Guide - Survive Your First Waves
Final Swarm beginner guide: how the wave-survival loop works, why you must keep moving, and what to spend Keys on first for a strong start.
What is Final Swarm?
Final Swarm is a wave-survival game on Roblox developed by Evolution Studio Games. If you like Brotato, you’ll recognize the loop: wave after wave of zombies close in, and you survive as long as you can while collecting gear, Keys and Chests to grow stronger between runs.
How does the Final Swarm game loop work?
The beginner loop is simple: survive each wave, bank the Keys and Chests you earn, spend them on permanent upgrades, then come back stronger and push a few waves further. Everything you do early feeds that cycle — treat your opening runs as practice rather than a score to protect.
Why do I keep dying in the early waves?
The habit that sinks new players is standing in a single spot. It works while the screen is quiet, but once the swarm thickens you get boxed in with nowhere to go. Get comfortable moving before that happens. The quick win: run in wide circles around the outer edge of the map so the swarm trails behind you in one clump instead of closing in from every side.
What upgrades should I grab during a run?
The strongest early picks are damage scaling:
| Upgrade | Use |
|---|---|
| Multi-shot | Early waves — fires more projectiles to clear groups fast |
| Attack Speed | Stacks with extra projectiles for faster swarm clearing |
| Projectile Count | Pairs with Multi-shot and Attack Speed to scale damage |
| Health | Boss waves around wave 8 — survive longer to keep building |
| Defense | Boss waves — cut incoming damage |

Where should I spend my Keys?
Keys are precious early on. The safest beginner route: spend Keys on core skill tree upgrades before gambling on chests. Chests are random — the skill tree is guaranteed progress. See our skill tree spending order for the beginner path.
Should I use codes at the start?
Yes — Final Swarm codes give free Keys and Chests, which is exactly what early progression needs. Redeem supdoggy, firstswarm and update1 before your first runs. Full instructions on the codes page.
